SC: Briefly describe your business
SPS: A private practice in Speech Language Pathology working with patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric with communication, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders.
SC: What motivates you to jump out of bed in the morning?
SPS: Jumping out of bed’ is not a good description. More like hitting snooze three or four times and slowly waking up to a wide eyed tail wagging dog waiting to be fed. After a cup of coffee the mind starts to race with new ideas for the office.
SC: Tell us about your company culture.
SPS: We have fun and love to be creative. The best way to help people is to integrate what they enjoy and interests them into their therapy session. My team and I are constantly brainstorming new ideas to help motivate both children and adults to help them reach their highest potential and meet their goals!
SC: What are three things you use every day in your job?
SPS: mirror, glue sticks and games!
SC: What trends/insights are you finding in your field/market?
SPS: There are many factors effecting a child’s or adult’s speech and/or voice. Studies are supporting an important influential factor is what we eat and how we eat it!
SC: What advice do you have to give to emerging talent in your field?
SPS: Stay diverse in the field. Never work with only one population. Seek out experience in all settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, outpatient offices etc.
SC: What benefit(s) attracted you to the Stafford Chamber?
SPS: Networking and becoming more involved in the community I live and work in.
SC: What business challenges keep you up at night?
SPS: Sometimes dealing with insurance companies, however typically I can’t keep my eyes open.
SC: Tell us about organizations/charities that you are passionate about.
SPS: I am member of the Southern Ocean Rotary Club. However any organization that promotes education, support and awareness typically draws my attention.
SC: If you could choose any song to represent your company, what song would it be?
SPS: Any song that represents overcoming obstacles and staying positive.
SC: What Stafford area business person do you most admire?
SPS: I have met a lot of great people, couldn’t possibly pick one.
SC: When you are not working, where in Stafford do you like to spend your time?
SPS: Walking my dog at nearby parks, quiet time to wind down and reflect on the day.
