SC: Briefly describe your business
AMG: We are a mortgage banker who provides residential home loans to our clients. We provide all types of loans for both purchase and refinance transactions.

SC: What motivates you to jump out of bed in the morning?
AMG: I look forward to helping my clients achieve the dream of home ownership and helping them get through all the challenges involved in the process.

SC: Tell us about your company culture.
AMG: Our goal is to help every client we deal with get to the closing table on time and with as few headaches as possible in the current mortgage environment.

SC: What are three things you use every day in your job?
AMG: The most important is communication, I am always available via text, email, or phone to help my clients and referral partners with anything they may need. Second is knowledge of the ever changing mortgage guidelines so I can get my client the best loan for them. Lastly is my sense of humor to keep myself and my clients sane during the process.

SC: What trends/insights are you finding in your field/market?
AMG: I could go on forever over what has happened in this industry since about 2008 but I’ll sum it up by saying the never ending changes. As soon as you get used to doing something one way the rules change on you, you really have to stay on your toes and keep informed of what is going on or you will quickly be left behind.

SC: What advice do you have to give to emerging talent in your field?
AMG: Remember that constant communication is the key and always be building your knowledge base. Also never get too high or too low, this business is cyclical and you just need to keep your head up along the ride.

SC: What benefit(s) attracted you to the Stafford Chamber?
AMG: I like the fact that it is a local chamber that focuses on Stafford Township. I live here, I work here, and I play here and I enjoy spending time with and getting to know others who also do business here in the hopes that we can all help each other succeed more.

SC: What business challenges keep you up at night?
AMG: Mostly worrying about the loans in my pipeline and getting them closed on time. So many things pop up, especially at the last minute, that add a lot of stress to what I do for a living.

SC: Tell us about organizations/charities that you are passionate about.
AMG: First of all the chamber. I am a member of the event committee and the membership committee. I am now also the Trustee for the chamber. The other would be Stafford basketball, I have been coaching my son’s team for the past 2 years and this last year we were fortunate enough to win the championship. I enjoy working with the kids and their parents to ensure a fun, educational, and successful season.

SC: If you could choose any song to represent your company, what song would it be?
AMG: Three Little Birds by Bob Marley, specifically for the lyric “Don’t worry, about a thing, cuz every little thing, is gonna be alright.” That’s what I tell my clients all the time, just relax and I will get this done for you.

SC: What Stafford area business person do you most admire?
AMG: Melanie Magaziner, owner of, among many other places, The Old Causeway. First because this is my current favorite local restaurant and bar but more importantly because she cares about the community and is always giving back. Just this year she held a fundraiser called Eskimo Outreach that raised nearly $100,000 in one day.

SC: When you are not working, where in Stafford do you like to spend your time?
AMG: That’s an easy one, on my boat or just on the water in general. Mostly fishing with my son or family trips to “party Island” so the kids can swim.
